This is all good info - for some reason I thought many/most/all functions were supposed to be executed with the ignition-on but the car not running.

I too have killed my battery a few times - doesn't seem to take long!

My tablet isn't connected to the car and I doubt the bluetooth adapter will draw that kind of amperage that it will drain the battery or cause the alternator to work harder.

U.A.N., sorry I should have been more clear.
I mean if you're running a laptop to code the car when the car is turned off, the process of reading info from the cars computers can be tiresome on the batters power supply.
If, while driving, you're just watching normal Live Data from the car (and someone is not actually coding to the car (got I hope it would be a pasenger), then the drain of just using a laptop for reading data is negligible.
its the reading/writing of codes (say you're trying to code the vehicle to turn off DRL's or coding to set vehicle height at such and such a height) that takes time and power.
make more sense?
