Winter Fun
Just wanted to share, thus far, my winter experience with the X has been enjoyable. I was hesitant to attempt an entire winter on DWS's but decided not to spend the money on snows in the middle of the winter and stick it out.
I'm really posting to share something positive since I've seen so many people throw in the towel in the last two months. The car hasn't left me stuck once even through all the snow and ice pounding we've gotten in the last two weeks (knock on wood). Feel free to use this thread for sharing your own pictures and videos. Not regretting the switch back from my e65 to an e53 one bit. Some slow speed donuts from yesterday: http://youtu.be/YaHHkJeICFc http://youtu.be/c6auaLcAW0k Pictures from the winter months: http://photos-e.ak.instagram.com/hph...26533900_n.jpg http://photos-d.ak.instagram.com/hph...85612690_n.jpg |
Glad to see you stickin it out Olek! I've been disappointed lately, but my X is still going strong and never let me down yet!

man I wish we had snow, everyone here in the uk is shit scared of it and the whole country comes to s atop with about an inch of it on the ground but for me its just an excuse to leave for work early to have fun. lovin the first vid sounds evil, if fuel wasn't so expensive here id love the 4.8 but at £1.20 a litre that's pounds sterling its not going to happen, infact why do I live in the uk?

Loved the snow fun! Keep on digging out and driving. I understand you are getting hammered today so enjoy.

Thanks for sharing and posting.....looks like Tons of Fun.. plus your getting another 2 feet of snow today today :D
Be easy on the old girl or it will drop a drive shaft out of the transfer case :nanana: I wont slide mine around anymore because of that. |

I am familiar with the Transfer Case (ATC500) actuator gear.
Any link or thread for the clutch packs? ================= Edit FOUND it: ================== Cobra Transmission Parts 1-800-293-1848: BMW X5 ATC-500 Transfer Case Quote:

Thanks guys. Multi-quote won't work for me so I'm responding to all. We have another 2 or so feet coming down today and more later this week. Driving the X5 hard has literally been one of my few joys the last few weeks. The snow is getting overwhelming and I'm running out of places to put it smh. Hope no one else is dealing with this shit.
As far as breaking things goes - I recently installed two genuine front Axles, serviced both differentials, the transmission, and the transfercase (with original fluids and the trans with a complete mechatronic service), and inspected everything thoroughly. I knew the winter would be a brutal one so I took steps to prevent any issues. So far it was a success minus a frozen level sensor which required resetting the system. |
525it....sounds like you have a handle on the old girl.....good for you man.
Don't worry to much about the snow, you will get through it. The media and everyone at work make it more hype than it is. One year not to long ago we in NJ got 4 feet in one snow fall...I could not walk around my house. Last year we had a tough winter too...seems there was always a foot or two of snow on the ground all winter and into the spring. You will get through it...... Have fun in the X5 man and keep doing donuts!!!! |

I'm 10 minutes from downtown Boston btw so imagine what that looks like. http://photos-d.ak.instagram.com/hph...06517434_n.jpg ***Excuse the quality. I'm using a shitty iphone to take the pics*** |
The sun will come out soon and it will start to melt every day....it's crappy when its happing but it will pass quickly.
I have pictures of my kids on snow drifts larger than that one year, 10 years ago...if I didn't take pictures I would have never remembered. We have ice now and the roads are really-really bad, id rather have snow. |

Looks good OP. I am very jealous. We need snow terribly so feel free to send it my way. And do some more doughnuts for me.

Got to play around a little the other night after a light snow. We had another light dusting this afternoon so I'm hoping to get out yet tonight and play around with the new GoPro a bit.
