Yeah I had replaced a deteriorated front guibo and when I did i put some of that good marine grease on the spline of the front driveshaft. It had a little dry rust but the splines were in good shape. Should get years of operation beyond this point. I wonder why no lube was added back in the day of the factory install. It would seem logical. RB i think your catching your preventive maintenance with respect to the splines at the right time.

To date, I've got 173,000 miles on the driveshaft and 249,000 miles on the TC with no issues, so a good grease job is the definite preventative maintenance procedure. And was still willing to pack it up heavy, tow my 190HP lake toy, bring the CEO and her rear seat security team along for a 700 mile trip in 95 degree heat this past weekend!

Here's to hopin mine is still good at under 90k miles and doesn't show the wear that I'm sure yours had (enough to let go) at 136k!

I just love the pic of the CEO and her security team!!

Super curious to see what it looks like on an 88k miles 5mt. I have 89955 on my 5mt.

I hope it looks like it could be left alone for awhile since I really do not want to have to deal with this anytime soon.

Good luck. I will speculate that the ones with damaged splines are the ones that won't come out.

I should have said "her" lake toy though if you know what I mean ;)
