So i bought 22 T10 bulbs off ebay as that is what the company i bought the aftermarket headlights from said the angel bulbs were. I took apart my headlight just to find out the angel eye bulbs are way smaller than a T10...
I have attached a picture to show. Please someone help me and tell me which bulb size these are? Im trying to look for led bulbs for my angel eyes. Thanks!

The ones you want are T5 286.
The ones original are 1.2 W but you can 2W from Ebay, incase you just want a brighter amber look, rather than LED white. The led T5 are also a bit difficult to fit and some may need trimming.

Can you send me a link for led ones that will fit? Do I need 20 or 22? Thank you so much

Wow,Jay,I know you are trying to be helpful as always,:thumbup:but these cost €200 shipped!!!!Thats only €20-40 less than both Depo headlights!I am glad they dont post to my side of the pond either :D
Plus ,they are the 60 led smd like the ones I got and are too widely spaced and mine only cost €30!

Ricky Bobby 03-07-2015 09:43 AM

Yes they are expensive but for the person who doesn't like to do custom install work they do clip into the factory Depo ring positions and "plug and play"

Not saying I endorse it because of the price but I'd rather recommend he just replace the rings all together instead of messing with the 5 or 6 T6 bulbs lol

razvangavan 03-07-2015 02:00 PM

Speaking of custom installs, can you provide the dimmensions of the angel rings? I want to swap the oem depo rings but i dont know what to buy.... The price of the oem depo rings is too high...

I bought my rings which are similar in size to Depo's from this seller of Aliexpress:

You will need the 145mm semi-circle rings from this kit (full circle would be too tall for housing), but you will need to put a note to the seller that you would need the full-circle 120mm rings to complete the set, so 2 of each. Fernando can confirm for sure but I believe the diameter on the Depo low beam ring is 120mm.

Hi Raz,
As Jay (RB) said ,the low beam full circle 120mm angel eye will replace the existing Depo Angel eye, perfectly.
The 145mm semi circle angel eye falls a bit short of the Depos high beam angel ring ,which is 150mm but is "passable",as it only falls short a little bit on top!
You will need to do some simple trimming with a dremmel ,to "seat" both rings properly and also trim for the wires to pass to the back of the headlight.Use some transparent epoxy heat glue ,like araldite, and you will be fine:thumbup:

razvangavan 03-07-2015 07:04 PM

Sure thing. I will post the pictures after i finish. I had the misfortune to order my new headlights online and they came with two different set of colours for the rings. My left headlight has white rings, the right one has yellow rings. I didn't have any way of returning them, so my best option is to replace the rings with something better in quality as in smd or ccfl...

powers1 03-08-2015 06:48 AM

Thats odd!two different colour bulbs!Where did you buy the headlights, online?

The Depos have 5 bulbs on low beam and 6 on high ,total 22 and these are the capless T5 286 1.2 W,which give you a the visible low light dots in daytime, which is the downside and why a lot of people want to replace them .

I have played around with different angel eye set ups on the Depos ,as I have a spare headlight and I have tried quite a lot of different set ups but still not happy with any.The fact that I cant find a 150mm semi-circle ring for the high beam created doubts on whether I should instal the rings on the back of the black cover or in place of the Depos!I bought and tested different size rings. The 150mm full circle ring is too high even when cutting the cover, while the 146mm semi-circle ring falls slightly short on top!

Rounding up ,Jay (RB) also done a lot of research on this and made a good find, which is CCFL kit for the Mitsubishi Lancer which has 146 and 120 mm rings ,the best available kit for the Depos,so far.

Hi Raz,
Can you share more information on the rings you bought ,please? What size and how can others also buy?
Would be nice to see a pic of the whole front of the car
Cheers :)

razvangavan 03-15-2015 07:55 AM

I found a local dealer that sold me two 14,5cm incomplete rings and two 12 cm complete rings. They cost 50 eur here. I also had some bad luck because one of the big rings failed to light up and I have to wait until he sends me another one and havr to reopen the headlight. So, ar this moment I don't have a picture with the complete front but i will post it later. If someone from Europe needs the kit, I can provide the seller information.

powers1 03-15-2015 08:08 AM

It looks great!Nice job there :)
Did you just get the ccfl lamps or the complete angel eye ?From the pics ,it seems a perfect fit and the 145mm incomplete ring I tried previously ,wasnt :(
Please do share your seller contact and we look forward to receiving more pics.
Cheers!

razvangavan 03-15-2015 08:10 AM

I said earlier. They are ccfl complete rings. The 14.5 cm rings they will fit perfectly.

powers1 03-16-2015 05:38 AM

Could you let us have the seller details!Depos main beam ring size is 150mm!
All 145mm incomplete rings I have tried are NOT a perfect fit!It doesnt seat properly ,falling short both in width and height on the top !
Hoping that your seller has a "perfect" 145mm ,he can sell us ;)Cheers:thumbup:

razvangavan 03-17-2015 08:10 AM

Yes, the 14,5cm are not a perfect fit, but you can squeeze them in the place you have the original rings from Depo. This is what i did with mine.

The seller details here: Contact - Accesorii Auto Tuning - wwww.AccesoriiAutoShop.COM - BMW E36 E46 E39 E60 E90

You can contact him on Yahoo Messenger and the cost for all is around 50 Eur + transport.

Ricky Bobby 03-17-2015 09:20 AM

Fernando if you wanted SMD LED you could also do the same thing with the sizes from the seller I sent you on Aliexpress, the LED are smaller and more closely spaced.

14.5cm semicircle and 12cm full circle would be sizes you would use and with small squeezing in place you'd be good to go.

MarkOanes 03-17-2015 11:04 AM

Any tricks to get out the headlight? First time I tried to take it out it took me long and was really hard. Thanks!

Hi Jay,Hope you complete all!
Wish I ordered the smds like on your link ,but I had already ordered some ,without realizing they were only 60 led!Things from Asia to Europe takes about 3 -4 weeks:(
I am now waiting for some smd t5 bulbs with sideway leds and a CCFL 7000K kit (for a Mit.Lancer, that you provided a link also) and I will then decide which way to go,meanwhile I easily sold the SMD kit,so thats that out of the way :)
Other problem I have is deciding how best to modify that DEPO low beam reflector ( I hate it)!May just simply smooth it to look like the facelift reflector.
The 145mm semi circle CCFL ring ,out of an E46 kit, wasnt a good fit at all on the DEPOS,as Raz also confirmed ,as he needed to "squeeze" his!In my case ,it was too short on the top and if i squeezed it ,it would break the lamp too short because the Depo´s is 130mm height and this was only 120mm!
!Maybe the Lancer ones ,being 146mm and possibly heigher !Should get them next week!

What happened?Whats ruined? Why didnt they work and which ones did you get? They will fit if they are T5 286 as I mentioned to you in an earlier post!

Raz has informed us that 2x 145mm U-ccfl and 2x 120mm complete ccfl rings are a good fit and has photos here.
I am still waiting for some T5 286 SMD bulbs as well as the CCFL rings on this link ,which are the same size as Raz fitted .
Good luck and let us know what happened?

I bought these ones : 24 LED T5 White Bianchi 7000K Luci PER Angel Eyes Canbus Fari FK Depo BMW X5 E53 | eBay
They required some force to get them in and by doing so some of the t5 sockets got ruined so basically my angel eye harness for my left headlight is garbage. So I guess i would rather buy the CCFL kit. So the link you sent me will fit my headlights? How hard is the install? Thank you!

Its a shame they didnt work out! When you said you ruined the AEs ,I thought the leds burnt them!
I saw that Ebay listing too but decided to get the T5 leds myself rather than buy that kit which is 20 euros more than buying the T5 separately!I asked that seller for the dimensions of the T5 bulbs but he just replied that they fit the Depos, but obviously not,so maybe you can open an Ebay case and get your money back!
I am still waiting for mine!
I am also waiting for my CCFL ,maybe get them today or Monday ,so if yu want to wait until I get them ,so I can tell you if theu are a perfect fit!
Raz,here says they are ,so they should be fine but I am not fitting them if I need to squeezed too much and risk breaking the CCFL lamp!
Have a look at my posts 21 and 26 here,so you know what I am talking about:)

Will do mate,as soon as I get them in.I have a spare Depo,so I try them on that.

Hope you get some kind of refund from the seller?Haven't seen any really bad feedback, only one buyer complaining that they are not as bright as in the pics of the EBay listing.

Do you happen to have the size of those T5s?Sometimes,we need to trim off a bit for a perfect fit but they should be 18.5 x 5 mm to fit the Depo harness.

My harness for my left headlight is useless now as some of the sockets broke trying to fit these bulbs. Do you know any place that sells these depo harness?

Sorry, been searching for those DEPO bulb holders myself but no luck so far!I wanted to drill extra holes and fit more lamps.
Maybe you can get an electrician to sort out yur harness and fit T5 holders that fit the Depos.

I found this Ebay seller in Ireland that sells very similar T5 holders to Depo ,but he is a bit on the expensive side,Send him a message asking the size of the holder! The Depo size is 8.9mm diameter but any holder between 8.0mm and 8.9mm will fit.

Well the harness is in the headlight already but probably half to most the holders on the left headlight harness. Did not touch the right one.
