Have at it. We had a lot of problems with the quality of gas and went through a few diff fuel filters which required sitting for hours for the motor to cool. Also dropped a tranny in Anchorage but that's a whole diff story. Me and my buddy just argued over a moose story from that trip just last week in vegas 20 years later.

I lived in Kodiak for a few years. Beautiful place, never going back. Lol.

Their were some guys that took a Z3 M coupe up the Dempster Hwy and all around yukon territory. All they had was a flat tire, and they had two spare tires on a huge yakima basket rack.

It's over at expeditionportal.com. I think an X5 should be able to handle itself. But spare parts would be a good idea to bring (outer axle joints, boots, steering parts, and tire service kits. as well as any filters and fluids)

I've done 85k miles offroad in a 2001 4runner all around that area and northern Alaska (north slope) and Central America/Mexico.

Took the 20's off today and put on the 265/60/18's. Went up from 28.7" diameter to 30.5" diameter. The speedometer is exactly correct now. Pic is with an F-15.

No way is it closer. Not even remotely so.

50r??? Went from 275/40/20s to 275/45/20s on all 4. Ended up adding 20mm spacers all the way around because I swore I heard rubbing sounds in the front. Love how the taller tires fill the wheel wells and how the spacers add a more aggressive look... but admittedly, never thought of trying 50r's. You're a brave soul.

just curious if you could give more feedback on those tires... did they rub against wells when turning? I am curious if anyone has 265/50R20 on their X5 E70. I want to get this size as I have spare brand new tires and I hate not to use them...I do not want any staggering. Just plain 265/50R20 all around. Will it work? I did calculations on https://tiresize.com/calculator/ but nothing is better than feedback from someone who has put 265/50R20 on their X5 E70. If you also had pictures.... one additional worry I have is that the tires I want to put are WINTER Blizzaks. Given less clearance I wonder if this is not gonna get problematic when snow sticks to tires thus reducing the clearance further....any morephotos would be appreciated....

Also any suggestions on wheels to get to fit 265/50R20 tires? DO I need any spacers or anything like that?

based on those photos...all seems fine .... may I ask if youe xperienced any rubbing? are those winter tires? did you run it for the winter? I am very concerned about snow getting in and effectively this set up not being a feasible one for practical driving....

so basically all I want is:

265/50R20 Blizzak DMZ-3 on X5 E70 same all around (non staggered)...
The pictures latenightflyby was kind to post are those of some all terrain tires for off roading it seems to me...(are they not extra thick in terms of thread?)

Nice. The wheels don't really fit that style of tire, though. I feel like it needs some off-road looking wheels.

I agree the off road all terrain wheels seem to me to be better without much space letting mud go through to disc brakes... funny as it sounds but probably steel wheels non alloy ones could be interesting even though on X5 E70 it would probably be very weird. Can u even get steel wheel in such sizes?
