Bluetooth signal issue

Hi all,

My 2011 x35i went into the BMW shop several months ago as the HUD stopped working. Took ages for them to figure out- apparently kinked wiring harness. Anyways they got it working. However it seems like the bluetooth signal is extremely weak now to the point that I have to put my phone on the cup holder for it to connect. Also the ipod connection in the middle console seems to have lost sound. I didn't worry about it at the time, was just relieved to have truck back and thought the iPod issue was my iPod and the Bluetooth was my iPhone.

I don't think these are the issue. I've connected other phones to the Bluetooth and the connection is weak regardless of the phone. Is there a antenna connection that may be broken/not connected that may have been affected with the HUD service? Would the iPod connection (usb and jack) also be affected?

Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

When they fixed the kink wiring harness, how did they fix it; i.e. what did they replace if anything?

The BT antenna on most BMW is located on the cover over the pedals and is not uncommon someone to forget to connect it when installing the panel.

Great thanks. I'm not sure what was replaced- I am waiting for the mechanic shop that sent it to the BMW shop to send the work docs. Is this something that can be easily diagnosed?

Yes, by visual inspection or diagnostic the telematics module.
