09 BMW X5 A/C Compressor locked up at 68k???????
 

I found out last week on my wifes X5 that here A/C Compressor locked up on her. I am trying to found out what to look at to see what happened (i.e. thermostat, fans, etc.) I am already going to replace the compressor, condenser, clean out lines. Was curious if anyone had a step by step removal of the Evaporator because I am afraid the expansion valve might have stuck closed and caused it to crater. I wouldn't think this is a normal occurrence at this mileage but looking to those with more knowledge than me to answer this. The electric fan does kick on but I do not know if it is a variable speed fan. I would really like to try and make sure whatever caused the original compressor to lock up gets fixed before the $1300 in new parts cause the same thing to happen again. Oh and the compressor isn't COMPLETELY locked up like those I am used to, you can spin it either direction 350 degrees and it stops and will not turn farther. Any help is appreciated.
