Pending misfire code
Wife was driving the 07 X5 3.0 home and the CEL came on and the car started sputtering. Eventually the CEL went off. I checked the code with Torque and it gave a pending p0305, misfire on cylinder 5. Here is the report
MID:$a6 TID:$0b EWMA Misfire counts (average) for last 10 drive cycles - Misfire Cylinder 5 Data Max: 65,535Count Min: 0Count Test result value: 56Count PASS Searching all the misfire posts seems to bring up a lot of people chasing fixes. Should I monitor this or throw a new coil pack at it? |
Why not say move a coil pack from a different cylinder to cylinder five and see if the problem stays with the cylinder or goes with the pack?
|
If you do move one, look up the firing order first. Make sure you move it a significant 'distance' away. Like 2 or 3 'places' down the firing order.
If a coil is under $40 Id prolly just buy one. Worst case you have a test/spare. |
