Considering Changing Wheels, Have Questions
What's Up Guys,
I currently own a 2010 X5 and am considering swapping the stock 19"s for some 20's. Possibly 214, 336 or 337's. I believe my X5 comes equipped with TPM. With that said is there anything I need to consider? I read somewhere that the wheels required sensors. Is this something that comes equipped on the wheels mentioned above? What would happen if I consider purchasing aftermarket 214, 336 or 337's without the sensors? |
Wheels do not come with TPMS sensors or valve stems. You can purchase the sensors and valves separately:
https://www.getbmwparts.com/partloca...catalogid=4462 Just send your VIN with the order and they will make sure you get the right ones. The above link has everything you need to get a new set of wheels on the road. More than likely, you could reuse the sensors that are in your wheels now. They say the battery in the sensor lasts five years, sometimes as little as four but designed for up to seven. If you are going to transfer the sensors to your new wheels, I would at least purchase four new "SCREW-IN VALVE RDC". RealOEM.com - Online BMW Parts Catalog You can use the wheels without TPMS sensors but you would have to find the proper valve stem for the hole in the wheel. I do not have any information on that. Without the sensors, you will have a check control warning and iDrive notification message. |
