P13C9 DTC
 

About a month ago SO mentioned that "Reduced Engine Power" message came on. Checked DTC and found P13C9 code. Cleared no problem. Today she mentioned that the reduced engine power message came on again. Checked DTC again discovered P13C9 code. Tried to research as to a cause on the web but not really coming up with anything concrete.

Seems to run per normal, but it is her daily driver, not mine so hard for me to judge if it is running different. Anyone have any additional info as to a cause or have come across the same code with a solution?

Sounds live the Vanos solenoid valve is ether clogged up with crud or shot.

Potential problem source(s):
- Contaminated oil passage
at VANOS solenoid valve
- Oil pressure too low
- Defect in wiring harness to
VANOS solenoid valve

Or

Vanos Solenoid Seized.

I'd bet on the latter. This is an extremely common problem with these engines. Not too bad a repair.
