Tailgate Dead?

Tried to open the tailgate the other day, from the outside, and nothing. Tried the remote, nothing...tried the inside cabin button, nothing. Went into the BMWhat coding app to check for any signs...nothing. Will not open, no noises, just dead. Any ideas or suggestions? Thx

You are talking the hatch right?

If your battery is about 4 years+ old it might be low voltage? You could attach battery charger and see if it then works. Now I doubt it will but the battery needs to be eliminated as a possibility.

Could be a fuse sense totally dead, check that.

Is there a emergency mechanical method to open it? I sure hope so because otherwise I wonder how you can get to the possible problem area.

Seems to me you likely will need to get to the hatch electrics and check voltage at the actuator that opens the hatch. If you have voltage.then the actuator is bad if you have no voltage well why not?

Fuses are either blue or not.

There is a control module in the lower rt rear wheel well. check to make sure it is not sitting in water. water can get in there if your sunroof drains are plug or other issue causes it to leak... ask me how i know..

The hatch can be opened by pulling a cable from inside trunk area by first removing a 2"x1" plastic cover in the center of tailgate.

Thanks .... there had.to be a way. Now he needs to check fuse. If not fuse check voltage to actuator in hatch. If voltage replace hatch actuator?

Guys...turns out to be it was the coding. Alex, from iViNi Tech US helped:

Maybe this parameter is causing the issue?
CAS: Unlock rear window
active
not active
Carly for BMW: Key unlocks rear window instead of trunk lid in touring models.

So I changed it to "Not Active"...all works now. Thank God it was simple.
