Poor mans piano black...
 

I had nothing to do today so I thought I'd have a stab at wrapping the interior trim of the X5 in gloss black to mimic piano black. Overall the quality of the wrap was rubbish, it lacked a deep glossy finish and came up almost satin. I did only order a cheap one on eBay so once this starts peeling I'll go for 3M 1080. I wrapped all of the trim pieces while they were still on the car, I'm yet to do the center console trim as I ran out of wrap (My judgement was great) I'm happy with the way it turned out and it was very easy to wrap while on the car (especially the trim on the doors) however next time I do it I will use a much sharper blade the stanley knife I found really was shit. I do really like the black contrasting with the light leather, but 3M 1080 should hopefully be a lot better than this eBay rubbish.

i actually quite like the walnut burl with the beige leather and i'm generally not a fan of wood trim

On my old ML350 it was grey leather with walnut trim so I've gotten a bit bored of it. I did take this wrap off as it just looks so tacky, but I must admit having had it on for a couple of days and then going back to burr walnut I do prefer the walnut trim haha
