Oil Catch Can for Diesel?
Didn't see anything posted about this, can we put a catch can on the E70 diesel?
I had one on my E90 335 and it used to work and collect oil. Since the E70 is also direct injection, wouldn't this be beneficial in reducing carbon buildup? |
There is a great write-up here by Zeta tre. Search is your friend ;)

Found it. It looks like hell of a lot of work, i wish it was just a simple bolt on like it was on the E90.

Could be easy, but what Zeta tre did is a proper install with a self draining catch can. This is the only way I'd do it.

I've tried that type of design in the revision one, and it simply doesn't work, not even after adding several layers. The evidence shouldn't be how much oil is in the separator but the fact that the return line is dry. The hamburger's is as wet as the feeding line. Don't waste your money: you either get something with a coalescing filter in it or is just as junky as BMW's wannabe Dyson cyclonic separator. |
