Tailgate Latch
 

Before you say search....I have. All of these posts talk about a metal on metal creaking. This is not my issue.

Friday @ Costco a girlfriend of mine decided to commit two cardinal sins on my car. (She drives a Chevy so I didn't unload on her) She reached up and A.) Touched the paint B.) Slammed my tailgate down into the self drawing latch. It made the most unpleasant thud.

Saturday What the hell is that noise? Its a noticeable rattle from the cargo area.

Yesterday I noticed the tailgate looked open....it was definitely closed but there is some significant play from closed, latched and drawn in to actually closed.

When I push the tailgate down and towards the car there is another 1/4 inch of closing that needs to be done. Did she screw my latch? Any thoughts?
