TMC: Sweyze...

Every BMW I ever owned with TMC has given me the phrase "SWEYZE" for X.X miles. I have no clue what this means and neither does the internet or dictionary. I asked Friends of mine who have BMW vehicles with TMC and they never noticed it until I pointed it out that on certain areas it uses the word "SWEYZE" to describe a traffic condition. The manual does not indicate or define the word and I certainly have no clue. Before I contact BMW/NA does anyone on here have an idea???

Maybe its a new word to describe the LIE?

It's a town on Long Island near Calverton and I-495 near it. Are you driving in the New York area?

My guess, since you have to go east from I-495 to get there, the TMC is telling you that that direction/exit is experiencing a traffic backup.

it's about 70miles east of any of my locations in the photos.
it is really confusing and the dealer was baffled as well.

Its a Town in NY as per google. Possibly because thats where the LIE ends????

nowhere near my location and the points indicated on the map are about 70 miles away not 1.2miles. Even if this is the reference not sure why it's giving me a head's up on traffic in area i am nowhere near. when i am in manhattan the first alert i get is "lie sweyze eastbound x.x miles" then it alerts of me other delays or road hazards etc. in the immediate vicinity.

I thought the distances were always the length of the affected area and not the distance from you. At least, that's how I've always interpreted it.

Truthfully, I've only paid close attention to it when I'm using the Navigation system so it predominantly shows only what is along my route and in that case, it seems to approximate the distance I am from the slow down or stoppage.

that may be so but why is an alert from an irrelevant distant location the first and primary traffic notification?
