IDrive Controller Upgrade
I think I've seen it discussed here but can't seem to narrow down the exact thread. Is it a plug and play situation replacing the IDrive controller and cover on an 09 E70 or does it require coding after replacement?
I posed the same question and was told that yes it could be done. I've been meaning to contact bimmertech and confirm, but if you've got the itch make that call!
It can be done, its not cheap and some coding will be required.
I have the complete conversion that I need to get into my 2008 E70, but have a few other things to do before I move forward with this task. http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ch-patryk.html http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ch-patryk.html http://www.xoutpost.com/classifieds/...t-upgrade.html |
I think OP is just talking about the controller, not the whole setup. I inquired about the same because I like the updated location better and my trim panel needs replacing anyway.
It is also less confusing for my wife as she doesn't have to remember which side to go to or have to press menu when she forgets.
electrically its plug and play but bare in mind you also need to replace both the bottom and top trim pieces too. Then coding is required to make it work with your ccc.

I just ordered the controller and surround yesterday. Ill pop it in before it goes in on Tuesday and have them recode "under warranty"
