Brake pads changed - problems with reseting value in the computer

I just had my brake pads changed. Repair techician was not able to reset the value in the computer. I also tried the good old way to reset it from the dashboard. Navigating the service menu with reset commands work well. Also the reset? messages appear and new values are being defined with ---- indicator in the dashboard. However, the new, reseted value won't appear. The old value just keeps on visible on the dashboard.

Any other suggestions for reseting the value?

Only thing I can think of is the brake pad sensor was tripped but not replaced.

Actually the sensor was replaced. Btw, the issue is the same with rear brake pads too.

Does anyone know if this issue affects: couple of months ago the start motor had to be replaced. My dealer did something with the car because the "change brake pads immediatly" warning had popped up - and there has been pre-warnings bebore that. However the computer recovered somehow as is started to show approximately correct value after that.

That sounds odd and I'm not sure what to make of it but just to confirm, when doing the reset you're holding the button down until Reset? appears but you then have to release the button and push and hold it again to perform the reset.

^ That's the way I do it. And after the reset (and ---- digits) the original value comes back.

I just did my rears saturday and put the new sensor it. When putting it in it seems like its on there but you really have to push it straight to have it click in there. Also check to make sure the other end is plugged in securely. After this, i did the dashboard reset method and it reset mine.

For these cars only OEM BMW sensors and one other German manufacturer's sensors distributed by Worldpak work. Every other sensor will give you an error.

I used some nonames...no issues:

manufacturer is "PEX", german.

You may have been lucky. Me-never, nothing except those 2 types worked.

I had Trouble resetting mine. Had to disconnect the sensor a couple times and re connect. I then reset using the dash method. However it took a couple tries before the computer would know that the sensors had been replaced
