P203A after recall
 

I had the SCR/EGR recall performed in October of 2012. Yesterday I got the SES light and put a cheap code reader on. Got P203A. This seems to indicate a problem with the DEF system for which the recall was supposed to fix. Does anyone know if there is a warranty on recall work?

This is my understanding and it should apply to Recalls as well as ALL Warranty or Customer pay repairs performed at a BMW Dealership.

My understanding is EVERY repair performed at a BMW Dealership and EVERY part purchased from a BMW Parts Department carry as 24 Month/Unlimited Mileage warranty.

If you are within a 24 Month period of the repair or part being purchased, of it can be CLEARLY shown the part/repair has caused the current problem, you should be covered.

BUT like anything, the Service Writers do not make much money on "Warranty" work, so they may try to bend things such that they make a bigger commission.

Do your homework, have documentation handy, read the BMW Warranty coverage and ASK the Service Writer or TELL them this is likely covered by the BMW Dealer Repair Warranty, which is 24 Months/Unlimited Mileage.

It is just over 3 years and 40,000 miles since the recall was done.
