Year of valve stem change? Hi everyone. I have a X5 (E53) burns oil blah blah blah. I do love driving the car and would like to get another, most likely a E70. Is a there a year where BMW ungraded the valve stems so they don't need to be replaced after 100K. Thanks |

Don't think so. I decided on the 3.5i instead. |

What are know issues with the 35i? Anything serious? |

The N55 engine has been around since 2009. The earlier engines had weak vanos bolts which could shear off and potentially grenade the motor. There is a recall in place to replace those bolts, but I'm not sure of the production cut off date. My 09/11 has no open campaigns and no history of the vanos bolt recall. |

as far as i know the N62 engines have seen no update during their lifecycle in the E70s. any 4.8 you can buy will put you in with the chance of having to have the valve stem seals fixed. and the valley coolant pipe. unless you get one that already had those done. people also report issued with the M57s, N52s and N55s as well as the N63s. take your pick of problems you'd like to fix :) |

If you can find a lower mileage vehicle, switching to a HamburgTech 90C thermostat may help prolong the valve seal life??? |
