X5M Wheels on Non-M X5?
Ok so I've found a nice set of aftermarket wheels I'm looking to pickup for my X5 35d. I've done some researching and just want to verify that since these wheels are coming from an X5M, the fronts will fit without issue however I will need to have the rears bored out to 74.1mm
Is this correct? Anything else I should know before pulling the trigger? |
Depends what wheels
Most aftermarket wheels will just have a hub ring in the rear. Oem you should get a hub adapter so when you sell them most people don't want a wheel that's been bored. Boring will cost the same as getting a hub adapter |

IMO, just bore it. Many more X5 buyers than X5M buyers...and they are likely cheaper aftermarkets anyway.. Keep in mind that every single BMW wheel has been bored. Every one of them.... They just stop at different bore sizes based on which car it is for...and the bore is likely the absolute lowest stress area of a wheel in a finite element model... |

This is what I am running on my oem x5m wheels. I bored my x6 hybrid wheels. |
These are custom made offsets to fit the X5M perfectly for a spacer adapter won't work. I have no issues with boring and frankly this seems to be the best solution for what I'm looking to do.

I would recommend these spacers. I am using them on my X6 and they serve two purposes, spacer and I can use my 72.5mm bored X5 wheels on my 74.1mm front X6 hub.

I'll have to see what the offsets are and see if I will have enough space to use a spacer. My thoughts are I won't have the 15-20mm of space available. Does anyone know what the thinnest conversion spacer is?

Hi Socal39,
I used these to do exactly what you are looking for with my Summer Vorsteiners... The 15mm really didn't make a huge difference in the location of the outer surface to the fender arch extension and it looks great! https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/7407/ES1899557/ Enjoy! John |
