Will 22" wheels rub?
 

Anyone have experience with 22" wheels with a 2" drop? I'm concerned about rubbing.

Vehicle E70 X5M
Lowered 2" with H&R springs
Wheels: 22" Rohana RF2 22x9 in front and 22x10.5 in rears.
Offset: 15mm front and 20mm rear

With the correct size tires, the overall rolling diameter won't be any different than what you are running now, or at least minimal... So, the 2" drop won't matter.

I have an H&R 1.2" drop and my 22" Vorsteiners are perfect on my 4.8. Your ride will be a bit rougher, due to the smaller side walls, so be prepared.

Not sure what wheels you have on your M now, but here are the specs for the most common Style 300 wheels:
Front Wheels
Diameter: 20"
Width: 10"
Offset: 40mm
Center Bore: 74mm
Weight: 39.3
Manufacturer: Borbet Germany
Tire Size: 275/40R20

Rear Wheels
Diameter: 20"
Width: 11"
Offset: 35mm
Center Bore: 72.4mm
Weight: 41.1
Manufacturer: Borbet Alabama
Tire Size: 315/35R20

It looks like you are going to be pushing out another 12mm on the front and will have plenty of room for the calipers, and it also looks like you will push out another 9mm in the back.

Other than some additional wheel poke, you should clear with no problem.

Be sure to note the different center bores front-rear on the M, as most wheels will come with one size or the other.

You should be fine... I have 22" BBS SVs on my X5M with a 1.2" H&R spring.
I still have some fender gap. Others have went with 2.0" drop and even lower on coilovers without rubbing with 22s.

Rohannas look great... actually thought about them for my wife's x5d.

i sell alloys for x5's only and 22" wheels fit no problem the most common tyre size is 285 35 22 on all four but i also sell them with 295 30 22 all round but i believe you can get 335 25 22 on the back and 295 30 22 see these wheels from ebay on a x5m ebay item

Just my two cents, but I've got 21" on mine with a factory sport suspension, and it's okay on a daily basis but not exactly comfortable. It's my daily driver so I want a balance of fun and functional. But 22" and lowered suspension on an SUV doesn't sound like fun to me. If I needed that kind of handling, personally I'd get something more suited to it to begin with.

I have seen this time and time again and it may happen from hitting a not very big obstacle, thus turning a wheel bent accident(with OEM wheels) into a disastrous or deadly one. Perhaps it may be kind of Ok for a lightweight car, but for something the size and potential speed of X5 I would not even think about it.

Its all about being one of the cool kids.

Plus, the $200 Chinese rim manufacturer say that they are fully compliant with all regulations. The ebay seller confirmed it.

Finally Id bet money that those 22" dropped with short springs will be a disaster around a road course- easy. People are utterly clueless about what 'handling' really is. They confuse darty, twitchy harsh rides with good handling.
