DeNox efficiency
Hi all,
I've had my 2012 X5d for a year now and it's been great, I love the thing. I have the following fault code DeNox efficiency 004D16. I understand this has something to do with the Nox sensors. I believe these are covered under the CA emissions warranty. The car has just under 60K miles and I live in WA. Does anyone know if this will be covered in WA state under the CA emissions law, or will the dealer try to avoid it? Thanks in advance, Dale |
Does WA require BMW to follow the CA standards?????????

Should be covered under Federal 8/80000 warranty I think

Did some quick research and it seems WA has adopted CA standards- both on emissions AND warranty coverage.
OP- you should not have an issue, although the SA might be a pita at first. Have your warranty book or other WA state document that shows the CA emissions should be followed. They may insist on a charge to diagnose- either insist that they note "shall be $0 if any covered emissions defect" or jot that down on the work order when you sign it. |
I stand corrected. I misread the detail- I thought the performance warranty matched the ecu warranty.

Thanks guys, I'll get the car booked in and "we shall see".
Apart from this, the car has been a blast. |
What happened?
I have the same code. Could you just add DEF fluid to see if that remedies the problem?

This was repaired for free under the CA emissions warrenty. They replaced one of the DeNox sensors.
