Shifter Compatibility ?

Will a shifter from a 2012 E70 be compatible with my 2008 ? I think it should since its just the shifter sending a signal to the trans computer to shift and not the actual shifter. Do I make any sense ?

Check the part numbers for both years on ECSTuning, Pelican, etc. If they match you should be ok.

According to the part numbers it only works for 04/2010 and above. I ordered part number 9228611 shifter lightly used from a 2012 E70. I just received it today and and just finished installing it. Works perfect and feels a whole lot better than my old shifter. My old shifter would make this clicking noise when I would move the shifter and also make a click noise when I would press the unlock tab on the side. This new shifter moves alot smoother and doesn't make either sound not even when unlocking to switch gear. This shifter has a sport button on the gear, but obviously won't work since I don't have adaptive drive. Still looks cool and lights up. Nice little mod I wanted to do. The shifter was too cheap to pass up, not to mention the shifter looks mint. My old shifter had the (P) button faded and some dents and scratches on the trim. Win win for me.
