Warning Label Delete

I got tired of staring at the bright yellow warning label in my otherwise black interior reminding me of death and injury. So I took a magic marker and blacked it out. It's a little glossy but it is ten times batter than before. I may go over it again with some flat black paint to finish the job but it looks great as is.

I thought Id read that acetone or other solvent can remove it.... Im sure google might provide more details, just FYI.

I tried acetone and it didn't work. I didn't want to scrub too hard.

Easy to remove the warning labels...
1. Remove the visors from the vehicle (3 screws)
2. Gently heat them with a heat gun and peel off the stickers
3. Only takes about 30-45 minutes of your time...

Would a hair dryer accomplish the same thing?

Should, the heat gun doesn't need to be set very hot.
Try it, and report back... http://www.xoutpost.com/images/smilies/thumbup.gif

I've removed the stickers from both the X5 and the M3 and a 335i using acetone.
Use the kind found in the paint store. I don't think finger nail polish remover is strong enough.
Remove the visors as mentioned above.
Wear gloves to prevent your hands from the acetone
Saturate a clean cotton rag and place it on the decal. I worked on a small portion at a time. After about 15 seconds the sticker will begin to dissolve and can be gently rubbed off.
I followed up with some Goof Off cleaner to remove any adhesive residue followed by some 303 protectant.
There is no trace that the stickers were ever there.
If you leave the acetone on to long or rub too hard the plastic will soften little and possibly get some waviness to it. This happened to one of my visors. However after a few days the plastic stretched back into place without any adverse effects.

I wonder if the acetone will work for the hardened softouch on the steering wheel buttons.....

I did similar to what Basem3 on both my M3 & X5. Works great. If you find the material gets too wavy afterwards, try putting the visor in the freezer for a few hours. It helped shrink the material a bit on the M3 visor.

You can also follow up with a little Vinylex if you like.

Cheers!
