Little help with navigation please.....
 

My navigation "voice-over" in the 2013 X5 only say things like
"Turn left in 800 feet" , "bear right in 1 mile"...it does not give
street names , avenues, etc. If this is as good as gets I'll just use
Google navigation on the I-phone . Is there a secret handshake or
toggle that I'm unaware of ? ... please dont tell me I need to buy the
latest update (spendy). Ha !

lol, it's Tom Tom.... it's crap to begin with

Agree with above...BUT you should know that updates are NOT 'spendy' unless you buy from the dealer.

I have followed other threads here re: updates to nav. It seems that

Ebay seems to be the go to...but reviews of same are not so impressive.

Any recommendations ?

I got a 2015 BMW Nav Disc off of ebay for $10 or $15 and have had no issues.

When you get these disk, do you just play them to do the update or is there something else you need to do?

2013 is what OP has. This is an FSC code and download the map data.
