electric fan issue? AC does not cool until higher speed.

If my X5 been parked for several hours or over-night, the AC does not cool upon starting the car. It blows warm air for about 5 mins then it gets cold.

Is my problem the electric fan or possibly the compressor? Any test I can try to diagnose?

Thanks alot.

Doesn't sound like a fan problem to me if it is blowing warm air. Maybe feel the "cold side" refrigerant line under the hood to see if it is cold while the unit is blowing warm air. If it is cold but you are getting warm air, would indicate maybe some kind of heater control valve or control mechanism issue.

You may have lost freon.

Have system checked for freon level.

took it to my Indy shop and they hooked it up to a Snap On AC service machine. It shows FREON was LOW. They added over 1LB. Electric fan was working fine. No problems there. I'm gonna drive it for a few days to make sure AC problem is gone. You might be right about low freon gregg3gs!

Thanks for the replies guys.

I added freon, but still not enough cold air blowing, my past e53 was blowing much colder air. What could be a problem ?

"added freon"?

So you have the equipment to evacuate the system, test for leaks, then recharge with 1.53 lbs of freon?

Or something else?

Without proper equipment trouble shooting 'cool but not cold' air is really a crapshoot.

Georgia the country? or state?

Country : Georgia.
Freon was charged in service shop. Special tool discharged freon from car, there was 350gram left, half then needed, than recharged fully.

Yup, 700 is about full charge. They noted no leaks when they id the evac?

Ive wondered it they actually control the engine load (ie AC, Alternator, etc) immediately upon start up as part of their emissions/warm up BS. It might explain why you dont get full cooling right away. I assume it gets nice and cool later?
