PASSENGER SEAT BELT ALARM GOING OFF WHEN NO ONE IS IN SEAT!

Hello my friends. Just bought an 07 X5 3.0si. 92k miles on it. The passenger seat belt alarm goes off when no one is in the seat. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting this economically fixed or even disabled. Appreciate your time! Thank you!.

Check with you dealer and they may fix for free. There was a recall for my 06 E90 for something similar. If it thinks nobody is there it may turn off the airbag so this could be a safety issue.

Did you have anything on the seat? Just the other day I had a small box with a starter in it and that was enough for the sensor to think there was a passenger.

Nothing on the seat. I'll check with the dealer and see if there is a recall on this. That would be great.

iCarly, about $60 and you can disable the warning sound. well, on top of many other things like closing the trunk from the remote, customize locking and unlocking the doors, open all windows and close them with the remote, lights, dvd in motion, clear codes....and a hundred other things

Just make sure the light does not say "pass airbag disabled" when someone is sitting there. The pad also detects a child and disables the airbag for humans that could be hurt by an airbag.

disable the nanny warning chime in abg module using NCS Expert for free....

Thank you all for your replies. I'm curious about using the NCS expert myself. @blue Dragon, if I disable the chime will I still get the warning signal (triangle/exclamation point) on my dashboard? Also, what about doing a total reset of your system using NCS expert. Basically setting the system back to factory default like when it was new. Not to get off topic with the seat belt thread here. Thank you all for your input.

You won't get the chime or warning, any other functionality stays the same. You can reset your entire system with NCS Expert, why would you want to though?

@blue Dragon. Because on another topic when I took it to a BMW shop they ran a diagnostic and I'm getting various fault codes. They recommended to take it to BMW to have them flash the CPU and basically do a reset on the system which should wipe out the error codes.
