Non-OE Hitch + OE 7-Pin Hitch Adaptor Mounting ?
 

Question to those who have installed the Draw-Tite or Curt hitches. I want to install the OE 7-pin harness kit instead of the aftermarket 4 pin to enable me to use trailers w/ brakes, so I have more flexibility. I see that the OE hitch has a flange bracket welded direct to the hitch that allows the receptacle to be fixed mounted.

However, the Curt & Reese mounts don't have this feature. I scoured the forums, and haven't seen anyone's setup I've mentioned. I was looking to see if and how others might have this done.

I'm thinking there has to be a bracket that I could screw to the hitch & mount the socket to. I'd imagine that additional cutout of the bumper would also be in order.

Since I probably won't be towing all that often, i'm also probably cool w/ a method that would just have the socket inside the vehicle, and dangle it out when towing. In fact, that's probably preferred now that I think about it :)

I ordered the BMW factory wiring which is made by Pollak. So I ordered this from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And then welded the right angle mounting bracket to the left side of the square tube part of the receiver hitch. Painted everything with black spray paint. I can take pictures tomorrow if that helps. I didn't cut my bumper at all.

Curt makes a 7 pin/4 pin bracket that attaches to the hitch. It fits tight and makes it easy to attach either 4 or 7 pin harness. I am only using the7 pin shown. I found and bought the 7 pin bracket on Amazon.
