Air bad recall passenger side
 

Got a recall letter yesterday to replace the PASSENGER side air bag. Now both bags are under recall. Has anyone else received a letter?

Passenger side, some time ago. Don't think I got anything for the driver side. Yet. Been away for awhile.

Yes - I received my letter this past Saturday.

Spoke with my service advisor last week about this and he told me to expect 6-9 months before they will have parts to do repair.

I too got the letters for both airbags in my X5 and the drivers side in the 135. My SA said this fall.

Yep, I got the letter. Now, I have 6 airbags that need to be replaced by BMW and only one is in stock just recently...getting that one done this week.

Love the fact that BMW won't sell the cars due to the issue but they tell me "it's nothing to worry about, keep driving", we'll swap it out at some point in future.

Will they need to pull the dash board to reinstall the pass airbag?

Pretty sure they will have to remove the dash.

Thats gonna be a big job :/
Lets hope the techs know how do do this. I may take mine in after they have done a handful, just to make sure they get experience.

Looks like I have to sub-contract to BMW or a dealership. Changing passenger side is going to be a tremendous amount of work and it may take half or more of the dealer's resources. I can probably do 3-4 dashes a day without rattles and 5-6 with some rattles afterwards :rofl:
