Tracking on the rear??
Hi Guys
So my X5 was tested today, failed on the rear tracking, i gave them the go ahead to 'track' it, They then informed me the bolts are extremely seized, i collect it tomorrow and i then go get it fixed myself What should i be expecting?? any idea what parts i need? and is it something i can do myself? I'm fairly handy, will replace what parts i need to and then just send it back in to get tracking done?? Thanks in advance Mark |
By "tracking" do you mean "alignment"??
I would say soak the fitting in WD40 or whatever...see if they loosen. If necessary heat...or cut them off. You want to do a 4 wheel alignment- each wheel toe in 0.01 to 0.02", caster and camber set to the middle of their ranges, balanced side to side PS I only work on California Cars...land of little rust....having grown up wrenching in the northeast US. ;) |
I had to replace eccentric bolts, nuts, control arms tie rod ends because everything was seized. Two shops tried, I tried but they were permanently seized. Expect a lot of money and work to be spent.
