trailer hitch w/o wiring
Just a quick question I hope but when we bought our 2010 35d it had a hitch but I can't seem to find any wiring for a trailer. Is this normal and is it hard to add the trailer wiring?

Not normal, but yes easy. (Relatively)
Lots of threads on this... you MUST MUST MUST stick with an OE harness: BMW only. |
The OE harness works good but have to have it coded by the BMW dealer after install. Otherwise the brake lights don't work.

I had mine coded after installation and the PDC still comes on when in reverse with the trailer lights connected. The dealer stated that the harness coding doesn't have any options other than On or Off. |
X5 trailer wiring
Look in the left side compartment in the back. You may have a harness installed.
If you dont, I used this: https://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-...leid=201242997 You dont need the BMW harness, this works fine. Installs in less than an hour. |
Thank you

Look in the trunk, the hidden panel on the right side. That is the place where mine is hooked up and I keep it stored.

I looked and nothing in both panels. Looks like someone just put a hitch for a bicycle rack.

That's what I did. Hitch I had was just for a bicycle rack or a step. I need to get some cross supports for the roof rack.
