How do you remove tension on the AC belt?

Hello,

Does anyone know how to release the tension on the AC belt? The serpentine belt has a belt tensioner but on this, it's just the AC wheel connected to the crank. I'm assuming it's somewhere on the AC side but I don't see anything that would move.

I don't have experience with the X5 but are you sure there isn't a slotted bolt hole to allow you to adjust the tension?

Bingo.

There is a special tool to twist the belt ON and to get the belt OFF.

Google search...stretch belt tool...lots of videos, amazon for tools (do make sure it will work for the BMW pulley..)

Thanks guys. I bought a tool called the Lisle 59370 from eBay for like $13 and it worked wonderfully. I used an incorrect method to move the crank as I didn't have the special tool for it and I don't want to pay for a one-time use thing but it worked out the same.
