CIC Combox Retrofit Question

1 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to gather up all the parts I need to do the CIC iDrive and Combox retrofit. I've got almost everything and I need to know if I have both the TCU and MULF or just the TCU. Can someone take a look at this picture and please inform me? Thanks.

BD has done the combox (and knows more than me) but what is the silver sideways box in the back behind the amp? I have something similar and I assumed that was my MULF.

fitguy913, what are doing for adapters? BMWretrofit is out of stock and I wanted to test my recently purchased combox before the warranty ran out. There are some german ones on ebay I was thinking about.

I bought a Combox from Canada on eBay. This is literally the last piece of the retrofit puzzle. I'm not about to pay Bimmer-Tech $300 for the PnP harness. I might wait for Bimmerretrofit to bring them back in stock.

I do believe the MULF is tucked behind the amp and the TCU. I'll keep you posted as things move along.

Bimmerretrofit told me the combox adapters would be back in stock in 3 weeks. They are shipping me a cic pnp/emulator this week so I can finally get my backup camera working again.

Below is what I am getting ready to tear into. TCU, MULF, Sirius and HD radio will all get removed. I am hoping I can re-patch things on the most bus and not need terminators. I was going to follow the attached Sirius directions backwards for the fiber disconnect.

I am being careful to make all of this plug and play so I can easily remove it and reinstall the CCC if needed. I have a feeling BMW is going to extend the warranties on some of the diesel emissions and I want to be able to take software updates as needed.

I got around to installing the combox today. I ended up just moving the pins as the parts for PnP were getting expensive for very little benefit. It was only 10 pins to move. E70s are easy to move pins as the TCU and MULF wires are long enough to reach to the combox. Some of the E90/E60 wires are not long enough reach and thus PnP adapters makes mores sense for them. Also, I was able to remove the extra fiber from the most bus and save the expense of the fiber terminator. Just use a flashlight to find the ones you want to disconnect, pull them from the center of the bus, and move the leftover fiber over to fill in the gaps and close the ring.

Are you saying you were able to retrofit the combox without any extra wires or harnessess or adapters, just the ComBox ?
I have a March ‘2010 e70 and I want to buy and install a combox .
I have factory CIC which I’ve updated to latest firmware via Ista-p with an ICOM. I’m looking for help … or hints

Correct. Follow any of the Combox DIY retrofits and you will have no issues. It is an easy retrofit. Not sure if Australia got different things though.

Ok thank you;
maybe I haven’t found a good DIY, with pinouts or wiring explanation ?

I won’t even need a combox connector? I can just reuse existing Somehow?
