Trailer Hitch Question

I am looking at putting a hitch on our 2011 X5 35i. If I go with the BMW hitch, I know I need:
Do I also need the Trailer Towing Module (61359167198; https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...34/ES169389/)?

At this point, I do not plan on pulling large trailers with brakes, but it looks like the Trailer Towing Module might be needed so the lights (and, perhaps, other functions, like turning off the PDC when in reverse) work.

Thanks!

Upon further review (not listed and a little tough to see in the picture), it appears that the Trailer Towing Module might come in the Trailer Hitch Kit (Part No. 71602156525)??

I recently bought 2012 3.5. I'm going with the invisihitch. Read too many negative things about the BMW hitch

I've considered the Execuhitch/Invisihitch. The OEM hitch is outrageously expensive, and the Execuhitch/Invisihitch is even more so. Not sure it's worth the extra $$ to not trim the bumper and not see the receiver.

I've also heard of some problems with the Execuhitch/Invisihitch- bending and getting "stuck" with heavy loads (but within load specs).

Other than trimming the bumper and "ugly", what problems have you heard of with the BMW hitch?

I thought I read that the oem one only comes in 2" and I need a 2 5/8" to pull my race trailer.

Invisihitch also includes coding with the price of their hitch. You can have any coding done at the time of purchase.

Their website is terrible or non existent but give them a call. They were extremely helpful and informative on the phone!

I was not aware of this. Seems like people who have installed have either gone without coding or taken to BMW or third party for coding. Will need to check into.

Thanks!
