Radar Detector Users - Adaptive Cruise/Blind Spot Monitoring

Hello,
I'm currently in the market for a 2009-2013 Xdrive35D. As I've run across listings I see that adaptive cruise control is a common option, and less common is blind spot monitoring. I'm not terribly interested in either of the options specifically, but many of the X5s that I've run across for sale have one or both of these options.

When I drive I use a radar detector religiously (I run a Valentine One, for what it's worth). Many vehicles with blind spot monitoring and/or adaptive cruise control set off my radar detector when I am near them on the road. Are there any radar detector users here with these features? What has your experience been with them causing false alerts?

You may be mistaken "Cruise control with automatic braking" option with an active cruise control, which it is not.

From the documentation that I have read, the Cruise Control with Automatic Braking uses radar to determine distance to other vehicles. Is this not the case?

Volvos, Mazdas, and Infinities are the most annoying with their LIDAR falses from their collision detection/active cruise control systems, but I also occasionally get K-Band falses from the blind spot monitoring systems on Audis, an occasional Daimler Chrysler vehicle, and a lot of newer GM SUVs.

Like I said, I can't recall ever getting a false from an X5 (or any BMW for that matter), and anything that I buy I will first test drive with my V1, I just want to know if I need to automatically eliminate any vehicles with these features from my search.

Yeah i hate getting those false alarms. I unplug mine if a car with radar is traveling around me. Annoying!

What radar detector do you use? Do you have cruise w/ automatic braking? Any false alerts caused by your X5?

No i dont have any of that and its a $100 cobra, nothing special. It saved me many times over tho so i use it daily. I just hate the newer cars you mentioned tripping it falsely.

No its not the case... it only applies the brakes if you go downhill and end up going over your set speed.

I think active cruise is a fairly rare option

Good to know! That helps me a lot, because most that I'm finding have cruise with automatic braking. I thought it was the same thing.

Thanks a bunch!

Active cruise: pretty much what every BMW has out there. Slows down using brakes only.

Dynamic cruise: uses radar technology to monitor the distance between your car and the car in front of you. Rare option.
