Hi Guys,

I've just joined the club!

I picked up a 2007 X5 3.0si with 120k on it!
The dealer had it on the back lot for $10k as is!
I'm a sucker for a deal and I hope I got one.

Now the list of items that needs to be addressed.

1. Needs safety certificate to register
I know it needs brakes and lets see what else.

2. iDrive controller not working

3. Passenger side mirror not working

4. Valve cover gasket needs replacement.

Otherwise the car seems clean.

Thanks John

Wow, not a bad deal! I hope that it's not too good to be true. I saw this X online. Are you doing the work yourself or are you taking it to one of the indy shops in the area?

I gave it to Techmax to give me an idea whats needed for the cert!
The truck drives well and its pretty clean.

I'll try and fix the mirror and the idrive myself.
I've seen the controller on ebay for $169 used .

Congratulations! Nice ride. Do you do the small repairs and maintenance yourself?

What makes you think "iDrive" can be fixed with a new controller?

Has someone already diagnosed and trouble shot this for you?

Glad you asked. I didn't want to.

Good luck!

You'll probably spend at least 50% of the purchase price in the 1st year on repairs and maintenance that was deferred by the previous owner. You're best to live with it as is and pass it on when your tired, or do a lot of wrenching yourself as I have done.

I found a 2008 4.8I fully loaded that was under CPO until 3/2016 and everything worked at the time of purchase (amazingly).... It had 89K miles. So far in two months I've replaced, MAF sensor, Heater Control Valve (heat has died), Rear hatch struts, CCV (smoking issues I discovered when backing up with trailer), Alternator, Front lower control arms (what a PIA that was). This doesn't include the maintenance I've done as well. The sunroof has stopped working (won't close when venting most of the time).

OP, you may want to try RMP or Bimmersport. IMO they are the premiere indy facilities in the GTA.

And WTF is an "As Is Collection"?!?!?

;)

the "fix it yourself because we can't be bothered with it"-range

it was my initial reaction as well...
