2012 35d EWS-DDE interface / CAS codes

Hello my BMW experts! I have the following codes that I would like to tackle:

2E3D -- DDE: interface EWS-DDE. (in DDE)
A103 -- CAS: immobilizer bus fault (in CAS)

they sit in my newly purchased preowned 2012 X5 35d. Car starts fine with key fob NOT in the ignition lock, which makes me believe CAS, DDE and EWS do communicate correctly. It has only one key programmed. Remote opens and closes doors fine, truck has comfort access feature, but that doesn't work. I appreciate any input.

1. Both keys, same behaviour>
2. "Newly purchased"? Did they knock off $1500 for the comfort access not working properly?
3. Diagnosis of CA is complex, we do not have a very good fault tree/diagnostic for DIYers.
4. How is the battery condition? Fully charged? What is INPA Carly, etc) reporting on battery health?

In a modern [German] cars fault code does not always mean what they say :yikes: Even when read with an OEM equipment.
EWS is part of the CAS. For redundancy CAS and DDE communicate on 2 different channels- CAS bus and PT can(I may be wrong about the exact bus names, but this is irrelevant). If one bus goes down, start operation is possible because CAS and DDE will exchange messages on the other one. So it could be the key slot problem, communication problem in the car, or, most probably, something unrelated. Modern car is a system and when looking for such a problems it has to be investigated at it's whole complexity. As an example, if the DSC modules is bad and pulls down the PT can you will probably receive this error code, without having anything to do with the DDE or CAS.

Thanks for your input, I only have one key. Yes, I knocked the price down for this and CA not working.. I will order another key sometime next week from Life Qulity BMW in Brooklyn. I should also have my new rheingold ISTA/INTA bundle in my shop after I get the key to play with the Beemer more and hopefully get the CA to work. Information is indeed very limited on that subject..that's why I am trying this forum... like I said, I appreciate any input!

A faulty outside door handle will set the faults you have. First check the fuse that the comfort access handles are powered by. If the fuse is blown. replace it. If the fuse blows again right away, disconnect all outside door handles and replace fuse again.

Start troubleshooting by plugging in each door handle one at a time.

If the fuse does not blow right away, use a laser temperature gun to each outside door handle to see which one is hotter than the other ones. You may end up replacing 1 or more, and up to 4 door handles.

How is the engine control module related to the door handle?

The PA bus is directly connected to all outside door handles, CAS and CA module. The CAS module will report the immobilizer fault, and the DDE will validate the fault.

when performing the test plan, it may ask you to disconnect pin 30 of X13376 of the CAS module to troubleshoot.

Thanks for that, I had Little time to play with this today, Checked all fuses they were good. There are similar Codes referring to terminal 15, 0x130 stored in various different modules: transmission module, ABS/DSC module, heads up display module even:

DSC: Message terminal status ( 0x130) missing receiver DSC transmitter Car access system
HUD: message error (terminal status 0x130) receiver HUD transmitter CAS
