I was happy to see such high mileage on the diesel engine X5's! Still curious about the gasoline engines too

Mines is at 110,000 miles now. So far I have replaced
Ignition coils 75k - One went out so i replaced all of them along with spark plugs
Rear air springs and compressor - 90k
Starter -95k
Original oem battery - 101k
Idler pulley - 103k
Valve cover gasket, front crank seal, AC compressor,AC Belt -110k
Blower motor and final stage resistor 111k

Oil change every 3k miles and just did pads and rotors too

With the exception of the compressor I was able to to do everything myself. Labor on ac compressor and belt was 300.00 usd.

Thanks to everyone on this forum i was able to save money on labor.

100,000 E70 6

I just purchased a 2007 X5 3.0si with 111,500 miles on it. The Carfax was clean and the car was maintained by BMW all the time. Prior to the purchase the evaporator in the car for the air conditioner had to be replaced. Paid for by the dealer. The EMF switch was broken (fixed that), the top of the glover box was coming apart (fixed that), cigarette hole in the back seat (fixed that). My Mechanic checked it out and all it needs is tires up front. Everything is tight. Electronics works fine.

I have a 2003 M3 Cabriolet with 181,000 miles on it and it runs strong. We looked at the valve area and it was clean as a whistle, like new. There was no indication on the Carfax that the engine had been changed.

I believe in the 6 because I worked on them in the 70's. The engine is fine, it's what's around it that is the problem if any...

I love my 6. I used to be a V8 guy but I have fallen in love with in-line 6's for awhile now. Everything I need plus better gas mileage.

Would like to contribute - 216,000 Miles on my 3.0

I do not find the engine to be underpowered, but I could see that being a driver preference, I certainly drive on highways but do not feel the need to pretend that my 2005 SAV is a Tesla...

I have been enjoying the car fully, hope to take it up to 250k and beyond! will write back as I cross those milestones!
