Tracking headlights
I was sure that my headlights on my 2013 E70 tracked with the steering but I could never get them to work. One evening I switched the headlight switch from manual on to automatic on and the headlights started tracking! This is probably why the high and low beams are through the single outboard lenses so high and low beams track as one.
This may be mentioned in the manual somewhere which I thought I had read end to end? |
You mean when the fog lights activate on the side to which you are turning, at low speed?
|
Two different actions.
The headlights actually aim whichever direction I am turning (can really see it in the parking deck) then center again with the steering wheel. In addition, the fog lights do light up on which ever side I am turning. I think you may have to turn sharper to activate the fog light movement. But, I assumed the headlights would track in either Auto or Manual... Maybe I never tried them in Manual long enough to see that they don't. |

Adaptive Head Light* The concept Adaptive Head Light is a variable headlamp control system that enables better illumination of the road surface. Depending on the steering angle and other assumptions, the light from the headlamp follows the course of the road. Activating Adaptive Head Light In the switch position 3, the Adaptive Head Light is active and the automatic headlamp control* is switched on. To avoid blinding oncoming traffic, the Adaptive Head Light > is not active when driving in reverse > is only active toward passenger side when stationary |

I guess you'd be blown away by the auto high beam feature then :p
|
OK, blow me away. The automatic high beam feature? Do tell.

Driver assistance package on the 2013 X5 auto high beam. There is a camera just below the mirror that scans for red tail lights or lights. If you have the lights set in auto, and you enable auto high beams in the lighting settings on the CIC, push the high beam stalk and you will get an A display in the cluster.

I now have a warning that my adaptive head lights have a failure. When I turn them on the regular setting the error goes away!!
