Replacing intercooler pipe

Well, my 2007 X5 3.0d started making a funny whirling noise as I accelerated, did some digging and found a leak in my intercooler pipe, it's an expensive little number! It's ordered and arriving in tomorrow, as I look at engine bay it's the pipe on the right, seems top end is easy to get off but what am I looking at to get to the bottom end? Anyone any ideas, tips, hints etc?

Appreciated

Mark

Definitely not suitable for X5d. All told, my charge pipe is about 20+" long. Its in need of replacement too!

I wonder if their rubber piece could be placed on the factor plastic pipes from the x5.

You guys are talking about two different pipes. And to further complicate things, OPs 3.0d has different pipes altogether.

The 3.0 doesn't have the "throttle body", correct?

Even still, the hose on the "right" when looking at the engine from the front of the car is the pipe from the IC to the engine. And the aftermarket deal that was posted for the 3 series isn't even close. But the gator section of it might be suitable if parts of the original pipe are reused.

But again, 3 different animals being discussed here.

The charge hose that I listed above is an aftermarket replacement for the red boost hose, or charge air line for the equivelent part on the 335d that often fails, I was showing it for example. its the hose the goes from the turbo to the intercooler (x5 p/n 11617799873). The pipe on the right side of the engine when standing in front of the car is p/n ( 11618506079)

The x5 diesel does have a throttle p/n

Gotcha.

The hose that OP and I are having issue with is the one on the right. Now I see why Price said what he said.

I thought they were both m57 variants.

Yes, the engine block is the same. The rest varies greatly.
