? Regarding calculated life remaining for Diesel Particulate Filter?
2010 x35d 148,000 miles
Regenerations occurring normally ICarly says 7,000kms left of Life for the DPF based on the calculation. What happens in 7,000 kms? Will there be a no start warning? Very little info based on my research for the 2009-2013 x35ds with this situation. I want to know if need to start shopping for a new DPF, clean DPF, or delete DPF. |
I'm also just staring to get a warning regarding the Particulate Filer on my 2010 E70. 190KM. Yes you are right. There is very little information available online. What ODBII module are you using with your ICarly? Based on my research DFPs are ridiculously expensive so I'm looking into having it cleaned.

Is this keeping you from driving? Is there a countdown until no start? |
Nothing is telling me that I can't drive. I took it on the highways yesterday. Driving at 118 Kph on M4 @ 3500. Drove 20 minutes. Got of the highway, turned around and drove another 18 minutes on the same conditions. I was trying to get it to do a regen. I don't have any devices that tells me it's doing a regen. Perhaps I should invest in Carly, but i'd have to invest in a wifi OBD adapter. I only have a bluetooth one that only support Android but I don't have any decent Android devices.
Any thoughts? |
Regeneration occurs at lower speeds and may be inhibited by a number of factors.
At least with VW cars, when a critical mass of soot is collected in the DPF regeneration is no longer possible because of the risk of fire(more soot, higher temp in the DPF. The engine will probably run, but in limp mode, no boost. Next is replacement or removing the DPF and cleaning it mechanically. |
DPF end of life calculation is just that. It is coded function in the Kombi which is set to approx. 250,000 km. A replacement reminder message is display, but no risk of no start or reduced performance.
If you are not getting DPF specific faults - then this can be reset (marking DPF as replaced) using ISTA or a Tool32 job. Make sure your engine thermostat has been replaced and the engine is running up to full temp. There are many other threads on this. |

Yes, I have installed new water pump and thermostat within the last 10,000 miles. Up to 641 total regenerations so far. Just wanted to make sure the dpf message/warning wouldn't be a check engine light. |
Update:
I passed 155,775 miles today and dpf message pops up in idrive with a check engine light. Regeneration are still happening and there have been 671 ICarly let's me clear it but 5 minutes into the next startup/drive the message comes back. Very annoying ICarly can't eliminate this. |
I just got this warning this morning. I'm still getting 30 mph on the highway, and no power loss. I drive a lot on the highway too. I'm going to watch this thread to see what you all come up with. If I find something, I'll share.

With Carly you can force a regen and then watch the process as you drive.
