Well I can confirm that the retrofit is not as simple as following the e92 retrofit kit instructions. Some of the pins the instructions ask to plug the wires into are already taken. I may have to call the dealer on this one and have them install it but not giving up yet. If anyone know how to obtain wiring diagrams for these mirrors or the over head control module it would be a lot of help.

Thank you so much for the link, I was not aware of this site. I need to figure out how to get it to work too now. Keeps saying java blocked it even though I added the site to the security exception settings and all. Going to walk away from this for now because it is frustrating!

Homelink/Autodim mirror retrofit - wiring
 

The E90 retrofit wiring harness works but the pins on the overhead controller are different, found the right pins on newTIS. So I got a homelink/autodim mirror on ebay for $40 and now it works. Here's the pinout (X14292 is the connector at the mirror, X14288 is the 20-pin connector of the overhead controller).

If you were going through all the trouble, you should have retrofitted a high beam assist mirror :)
