Rear axle boot replacement on X5 diesel?
 

I ended up swapping over my summer wheels back on the X5 yesterday. As usual, I take a quick look at everything. rotors, pads, boots..etc.

I noticed my rear outter CV Boot was ripped.

I couldn't find a replacement boot online. Are these not 'serviceable'?
Do i have to purchase a complete new axle?

I'd hate to drop that kind of cash on a whole axle, when a $30 boot could probably solve the issue.

I haven't done this work on my X5, so I don't know what's involved.

Thanks. I saw that too but thats for the x5m. They're different.

Used axles go for $100...150. Factoring in the labor of disassembling CV joint and related mess from the grease, to me it's the best option.

You're right. I thought about it after. I'll probably look for a low mileage one. Hopefully whoever removed it, removed it properly without damaging any splines
