Had the X5 in for some Recall/TSB stuff

Sooooo my footwell module was bad. Fortunately covered up to 125K miles. While it was in there, they replaced the driveshaft and informed me that the fuel pump was covered for 10 years unlimited mileage. I also got word that the vanos was covered under another TSB but they would be letting me know the details. (I had a tee time and had to jet) Dunno if this is useless or useful to anyone, just a heads up. I will post once they let me know.

Good info, wish there was a sticky thread of all the parts that are covered under warranty (outside factory warranty). Kind of crazy to see so many items covered (i.e., driveshaft, fuel pump, active tank, footwell module, airbag, etc)

Fuel pump used to be covered under extended warranty. Now it's a recall.

Well Oddly nothing on mine. I tried to code it and it was dead. Some people report power windows inop.

My window stopped working and the FRM was at fault. It was replaced under extended warranty (which I wasn't aware of at the time). Mines a 12 X5d.

I have a code for footwell module as well. can you explain how is it that you tried to "code" it unsuccessfully?

how could I further test the module to verify it's bad? I have ista running.

I Tried to change some of the light and window settings via Carly and it said the footwell module was unresponsive and no coding could be done. Dealership confirmed....it was completely dead. They even tried a reboot and said it was completely unresponsive.

Mine is currently at the dealer with a bad footwell module and they are pushing back on the warranty claim because they said I hooked a computer up to it. Anyone face similar pushback? Went to the reimbursement portal and it shows my car is covered for it. Seems odd that a dealer is fighting about a warranty claim.

Sure. Someone decided to F with you. (Why DID you tell them you were reading codes, etc???????)

They will claim that you caused the failure by messing with the programming- then it isn't 'covered'. Once they do this, then BMWNA simply takes what the dealer says and backs the dealership.

Under warranty, BMW pays 1.x hrs of labor and gives them an FRM to install.

If YOU pay, they get to charge you $400 -800 more than dealer invoice for the FRM, and they get to make up whatever hours they want: 2 hrs, 4 hrs.

Be careful.

Yeah, I know I know. Sometimes I can't keep my mouth shut. The dealer came around and is covering it all* free of charge. Should get it back tomorrow.
