...200+ views and no response? Hmm, perhaps you should post this on the e70 BimFest or BimForum's site. Hard to believe that after 241 views (as of this post) that pre facelift e70 owners are stumped. :D :stickpoke :D

I'm shocked myself today I went in for a recall at the Beverly Hills BMW dealership I was told by the SA that the plug is just a diagnostics plug nothing related to tpms. But I all BS we have the obd2 for that .

Can any other Pre-Facelift owners just check their wheel well and see if theirs is dangling too?? The PLUG I mean!

Here's a pics of my passenger front wheel well. I only have a small plug for adaptive headlights.

Right, but how many of those people have looked under there for that plug?

LOL...well, over 300 views at time of this post and stll no response from a pre facelift owner...even after teasing/poking at 'em to look or reply if they do know. :dunno:

(Apologies to any e70 pre facelifter that may have replied...there was some replies that didn't have a signature with model/model year info...so I'm assuming none yet.)

Haven't had a chance to get to look and see, but I've been told that the TPMS Antenna is at the rear of the X5 by the subframe. I've got a pre-facelift (2008 MY) and I'll try to remember to take a look for that plug. I'm having the same intermittent error with TPMS (external interference and just TPMS malfunction) that I would like to resolve too.

Will do! Don't have any desire to take it to the $tealer for the TPMS error. Everyone I've talked to has said that they just swapped parts and never got to the cause of the error. Some have had nearly the entire system replaced too as per their comments. I'd rather not go that route.

I just grabbed a few pics from my 3.0si. You're definitely missing a strut(?) in addition to whatever the plug is connecting to.

I dug further and found this from realoem -> front axle suspension... so perhaps it controls your headlight aim as you turn the wheel. See if that's still working for you (aim against the garage door).

Also, I have adaptive drive (in description of part) so maybe yours isn't really missing if you don't have adaptive drive. (And remind me never to fly through any deep puddles)

What's behind the fender liner? Maybe it was replaced or removed at some point and someone thought the plug went on the other side of the liner and forgot to plug it in somewhere.

Thanks for the pictures my brotha! Looks like a leveling sensor wonder if that's what I'm missing

rh71 06-08-2017 07:17 AM

Getting back to your tpms malfunction, there should be a few threads related to that. I recall getting that error after about 6 years of ownership. The batteries in the sensor of each wheel just start to die so get a new set of compatible sensors in them. That's all I had to do.

How old is the car?
