Oil consumption

Hi,
My 2011 X5 5.0 N63 engine, consumes 1 quart oil per 1000km / 600 mile. Previous owner already changed valves. No smoking at all. Changed vent pipes , upper ones. Thinking to replace oil separators.
What you think , can damaged oil separator consume such amount of oil.
How van I diagnose oil separator??
Next step is to use some clogged ring and engine cleaner.
Any input ..

What brand and weight oil are you using? A different brand and weight could affect consumption.

Now she’ll recommends Shell 5w-30 ll-04 instead of ll-01. Will try on next oil change

Try Amsoil 5-30 European blend. I am not a dealer or in any way affiliated with Amsoil. I've been using it for 20 years with excellent results. My previous 2001 X5 4.4 would burn 1/2 a quart between 10K changes. It's possible you could be losing oil through the turbos. You could burn a quart in 600 miles without seeing smoke.

How many miles on your X5?

You are using good oil. Try adding Liqui-Moly "Motor Oil Saver" at your next oil change (you will need two bottles). It is a seal conditioner that also helps oil consumption via the rings. Well regarded product.

You need to find out where the oil is escaping from first. The turbo(s) is only a suggestion and possibility. I still think changing oil brand and weight would be the first and easiest trial.
