Is my alarm dying?

Today when I armed my X several times the sounds was getting weaker, puny.

When I parked in the garage I noticed the "clown nose" was blinking really fast and barely any sound was heard.

Any ideas on where to look?
Thanks

Do not know about blinking, but alarm's loudspeaker sounds dead! Easy to change!

I don't have the info that explains the interpretation of the DWA (anti-theft alarm siren system) status light for the e70 X5...but for the older generation BMWs (e38/e39/e46/e53)...fast blinking for the 1st 10 seconds after arming has a specific meaning. Since BMW basic design elements don't change much from gen to gen unless there's a revolutionary technology change...there's probably a 99% chance that the fast blinking means the same thing.

And if the system has a monitor that is remaining open...it could be having an affect on the alarm siren (if it has an internal rechargeable battery like the old gen BMWs):

It also makes a weak beep when somebody(that would be me)fails to close the tailgate completely.

I wasn't banned from GT for being stupid so I guess I'm safe here, too!

For my e70 I made sounds for opening ang closing doorļs, but I did not activated panic alarm..may be u can try it..if it is activated for you...and and see what kind of flashing your car has! May be somebody put before too many options for alarm

The alarm can be set with my daughter(16 yo)inside, sitting still reading a book with the windows down and it will sound. Even if she didn't move or touch the doors.

I'm okay with how it works, how it's always worked for four years.

About a year ago, mine got weak and I was getting ready to order a new siren and did some debug first. The rain from the windshield runs down the right and left rear of the engine bay, there are drains in the well there and mine had leaves and dirt clogging them. This in turn caused water to backup and pool which pooled up to and around the siren which deadened the sound. Unclogged the drains and siren worked like a charm again. Did both sides, on the other side, it pools to the e box and that would not be pretty to get water in.

Easy to check the wells by removing black plastic trim with the 2 or 3 quarter turn fasteners at the rear of the engine bay.
