BMW with the n52 engine.
Hello! I have a BMW with the n52 engine. Yesterday it began to smoke under the valve cover. Does anybody know why?

BMW with the n52 engine.
Be a little specific.
I assume it is an X5, is it Diesel or Gas? Mileage? What was the most recent repair you've done on the engine? When was the last time you changed the oil? How often you change it? Have you changed your spark plugs? Have you inspected the engine at all? Have you changed the VCG? I am not a professional mechanic, but other members will definitely need some details about your car to be able to help you. Edit: I would change the thread title to something like "Smoke under valve cover-N52 X5" General titles don't get much attention. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Under your valve cover ... do you mean the plastic cover (with the oil cap) ... or under the Valve Cover itself?
Without more info it could be: *Valve Cover Gasket *Valvetronic Motor Gasket (which is on the side of the engine located directly under the valve cover area) *Eccentric Shaft Sensor Gasket Valve cover gaskets (VCG) repairs are extremely common. Oil will drip from the VC onto your header. Have you checked for oil residue around the areas you can see? You can also reach up under the plastic cover where the Valvetronic motor is as well. |
Hello! Thanks for the tips! I found a great website with repair kits. I solved the problem cheaply and quickly. There were no problems with the delivery.
