DPF/SCR/EGR Delete Completed

Folks,

I just had my shop do the DPF/SCR/EGR delete last week. I bought all the parts & the tune from AARodriguez.

I ended up with the Stage 2 Race:
BMW X5 35D Performance - 2009-2013 JR AutoTuning

Frankly, I am not sure why I got the Stage 2 and not the 2.5, but either way, it's totally worth it. It wasn't cheap. In addition to the parts, my shop charged me 22 hours (including a oil change, but still). I was a guinea pig for them a bit, and I knew that would be the case, so be it. Your shop may go faster for one reason or another.

It really is like I got a new truck at 90k miles. The throttle response is night and day, and the turbos sound awesome, while the overall sound is "throatier," it isn't much louder than stock.

Cold starts after sitting overnight generate a bit of blue smoke, but nothing on warm starts during the day. There's a slight diesel smell, but not off-putting to me.

I'd do this upgrade all day.

oh wow 22 hours !!$$$$$$$$ :wow:

curious
did you remove the scr tank in the front of the vehicle?
how about the passive tank and transfer pump?

JohnStoj 11-13-2017 01:29 PM

Left the tanks in place, but emptied.

Did you have the shop cut and gut the DPF or replace with a DPF delete pipe? (Buzzken?)

JohnStoj 11-13-2017 10:28 PM

Buzzken pipe.

Also, in my excitement, I forgot that in the 22hrs was also the swirl flap delete & cleaning of the intake.

Did you get a DOC cat wiht the pipe or no

JohnStoj 11-14-2017 02:58 PM

I'm going to go with, "no," since I don't know what that is. The cat was removed.

AlpineD 11-14-2017 11:29 PM

Buzzken offers an optional cat i just went with it helps with the smell and a bit of noise, you removed the SCR which is sort of the same idea but works diffrently

Ah. I did see that option, I just figured I'd try it without at first. The smell isn't off putting to me, and the sound is very restrained. You can't even tell anything's different from inside the vehicle with the windows up.

I'm looking to get the Buzzken delete with the cat on my wifes, does it really help with the smell? I know she won't deal with the totally straight pipe for fear of her complaining -
