You need to fix the injector issue, its at the point now where people are doing it themselves, but if you have to take it somewhere, Autobahn East in Ajax can do it for you at a significant discount to what the dealer will charge.
Bear in mind you will pay over 1k CAD for one injector

Thanks, I have ordered from them before and seems like a great place to save some $$$. Until I can get the car into the shop(next tues), i've been monitoring the engine temp from the "Hidden menu #7" and carly app. I'm trying to confirm that my thermostat is faulty as the other day i noticed a temp of 85 but then quickly dropped back to 70. With winter approaching the outdoor temps have been around 0deg C and on my 30 min drive this morning my temp was still at 70. Could there be another factor the engine temp is not rising if say the thermostat IS working properly (I have a fault for egr cooler bypass valve does not open). I have noticed the vacuum line for the valve is a very poor fitting but also cannot budge the valve by hand.

Thanks blue dragon, might have a shop do this as i do not have INPA or proper software to program new injector/have seen how hard they can be to remove. I have tried to recreate the problem by driving around town with no luck but perhaps this is just the early stages of failure. It's also been dry out the past couple days if moisture is part of the issue.

Update

Just had the car in at the shop. Replaced thermostat and temps are back up to normal. They shop also suggest replace injector 5 as the car was stalling under 70% throttle and throwing bank 2 activation (4B99). Once i left the shop after it was fixed same issue 4B99.
So back to the shop it goes. Any advice? Mechanic will most likely want to do injector 6 but what questions can i ask to make sure he is doing his due diligence and proper testing rather than throwing parts at it??

Does the shop have experience with diesel automobiles? Because if they don't they will be tossing parts into it with the hopes of fixing the issue.

From what he tells me they have serviced many. He also owns F15 Diesel not that that says anything...

F15 is still under warranty, so you are right, it doesn't say much! Servicing and trouble shooting are two different things!

Exactly, I'll be waiting to hear back from them today after the work they did yesterday and will get a better idea of what they have tested to diagnose. I don't mind spending the money to fix the problem but don't want to blindly throw parts at this.

By the way the shop was great to deal with, im just trying to do some more research so i can make the best decision!

Pierce330 11-29-2017 03:07 PM

That is good! They may not just have the experience that is necessary to trouble shoot!
